Stealthy as a centipede, Intel Corporation has begun shipping its highest-clocked 45nm dual-core processor yet, the Xeon X5270. Coming in an LGA771 package, the new server CPU is set to 3.5 GHz, has a FSB of 1333 MHz, 6 MB of L2 cache and a TDP of 80W.
According to Intel's menu, the 3.5 GHz Xeon is priced at $1,172 (price for 1000-unit tray quantities).
Intel to reveal TjMax value of all Core 2 CPUs
After detailing the 45nm Core 2 Duo/Quad Digital Thermal Sensor (DTS) specs in August, at the San Francisco IDF (Intel Developer Forum), Intel is now preparing to go all out and also talk about the DTS of its 65nm Core 2 processors and Xeon CPUs.
The full disclosure is set to be made at the upcoming IDF in Taiwan which will kick off on October 20th.
